The 26th Annual Merrickville Artists’ Guild Studio Tour & Sale,
Merrickville, Ont, Sept. 24 & 25, Oct. 1 & 2, 2010.
What better way to spend an autumn weekend than by touring the studios of nationally and internationally renowned artists and craftspeople located in and around the historic village of Merrickville? This venerable self-guided free tour features 28 artists in 23 studios offering paintings, hot glass, jewellery, pottery, sculpture, textile arts, metal smithing and letterpress printing—all within a 15 km radius of the village.
Over the passing years, the tour has grown in lock-step with the
village, to the point that it is now one of the biggest events held in
Merrickville and the surrounding countryside. The tour is an
opportunity for the public to meet the artists, to see them in their working environment, and to view and purchase their work.
Several of the artists live and work in the rural countryside surrounding the village, giving the Tour a rich mix of village and country settings. Linda Hynes’ pottery is situated in an old log
building beside a winding creek. Pieter Doef uses the spacious gardens on his century-old farm to display his sensual sculptures. Both artists have been on the Tour since its start in 1984.
Full colour brochures as above, featuring a map to all participating studios, are avaliable from Merrickville stores and restaurants. Or you can send for a copy from the Contact Us page on this site.
