The creative journey starts with a concept, a photograph or a combination of both, not necessarily in any given order.

Universal beauty is shared by all beings, and is most apparent in pristine nature: we are all a part of this grandiose design we call the Universe. The harmony we see in the natural topography all around us mirrors the beauty that is found in the Creator. My goal is to communicate my view of the landscape, share the beauty, and invite the viewer to participate in the experience.

There is a watershed moment, in the evolving life of a painting, as it is being worked on and travailed over: the painting takes on a life of its own: it's a birthing of sorts, a creative one. When I have brought a painting to this pinnacle, I can let the painting itself direct my brush: only then do I feel I have fulfilled my "raison d'etre", and my goal of sharing my vision and myself.
