Laura Starkey

Laura portrait2009. Wow, what a year. The last two years of work have really paid off. I completed my series "A Painting A Day For A Year" and my journal. We finished renovating the downstairs of our house back to some of it's original luster of a 1860's barn and I went sailing along the Turkish Coast and the Greeks Islands for a few weeks.

" A Painting a Day for a Year" is on display in my studio and on my website. I found out how I struggled with balance in my life. I would occupy myself with other peoples lives before taking care of mine. Once I found that balance in my life I became more peaceful, more fulfilled. Then I would lose it again but I would find it easier. Lost it again and found it again until balance became part of my nature. Read more on line.

I am looking at all the things I have accumulated in my studio. These things have become part of my life for one reason or another. Instead of throwing them away and starting fresh, I am finding beauty in them. In my studio painting, drawing, designing, building, gluing and creating are all a daily occurrence that bring a multitude of surprises.

Join me at my studio, I will show you the renovations, a couple hundred paintings, unusual sculptures, paper art and how our garden is taking over the yard.
