Hanna Maria MacNaughtan

Hanna Maria MacNaughtan is a self taught artist. Her love of people and nature is evident in her art. Hanna’s work as a Registered Nurse has an immense influence on her paintings. “My profession has bestowed upon me the opportunity to witness pure and often subtle emotions of people as they face life’s challenges. I have discovered that I often bring these vast and intense feelings into my paintings.” Her art is also influenced by her travels in Canada, Scotland, El Salvador and most recently the monarch butterfly sanctuaries in Mexico.

Hanna’s approach to each piece is varied. At times the subject is captured with fine detail and at other times, depending on her disposition, the subject may be portrayed in an impressionistic style. Recently, large abstract paintings have emerged. Not being rigid in predetermined ideas or techniques allows Hanna freedom to let each piece evolve in its own unique way. Working in various mediums allows for continual wisdom and growth in capturing the essence of her subjects.

Hanna is a member of several art groups in the Ottawa area.  Her home studio is in Kemptville, Ontario.
